Training continues, After starting with my triathlon swim training class/group, I've been invited to other weekly training sessions which are like a social club in a way. It's pretty cool because it's like minded people and they are great motivators to keep you going. This group is central around the Westwood Health and Fitness Center where my swim group is at.
Thursday mornings is a group run starting at Westwood and the normal course seems to be 6.2 mi (10K) but some turn back early and others take it a bit longer or more. I really like this, there is lots to be learned from running with others.
I did make the mistake when getting on the email list of introducing myself and mentioning that I'm up for different kinds of events and then found myself being invited to join a team for an "Adventure Race". After a little arm twisting and goading I said "What the heck" and joined the team. The race is called "The Tough Mudder" and looks to be challenging to say the least. Here is the link to the event. Our particular race is the Midwest North (WI) one

It's winter in WI so outdoor biking is not that much of a reality but biking is my strong suit so staying focused on swimming is where I'm at. Still I need to fill in the off days with some sort of training and I'm looking at inding a set of rollers and ride in the basement. Rollers would fit the bill rather than getting another bike and a trainer because my bike is carbon framed and attaching to a trainer is not very good for a carbon frame. The other option I'm looking at is spin classes and maybe joining Westwood or another health club and reaping the benifits of all types of cross training.
Well that's where I'm at in the middle of January, I'm focused on swimming better and working on my running and building up to my first marathon in May. All milestones to get to the big goal of "Ironman"
